March Meeting: Personal Property/Fine Arts

The March chapter meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Connolly's Pub & Restaurant. The guest speaker will be art expert, auctioneer, and appraiser August O. Uribe, Senior Vice President for Impressionist and Modern Art at Sotheby's New York, who will talk about Trends in Impressionist and Modern Art. The program qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit. Mr. Uribe is an active auctioneer and appraiser, presiding over sales in both the Decorative Arts and Paintings Divisions at Sotheby's, and appearing frequently on the PBS Antiques Roadshow broadcasts. A graduate of Princeton with a B.A. in politics and Latin American studies, Mr. Uribe, who is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, is an enthusiastic promoter of Latin American culture. He is a frequent guest lecturer and panelist at museums and galleries both here and abroad. His talk will include a discussion of famous works up for auction, and of how to authenticate works of art. It's sure to be popular, so please reserve early as space is limited.
